Computer peripheral equipment:-
Input, output and storage devices surround a central processing unit (CPU), called a peripheral device. They are usually CPU-connected electrical devices that exchange data and programs with the CPU. Thus, they act as interfaces between users and CPUs. Conversation is difficult due to language barrier. The CPU Understand machine lavel language, which is difficult for most users. Input- Output (1/0) tools help move the translated version of the input into the machine's memory and, likewise, to present the processed symbols in the user's language.
During the first two decades of commercial use of computers, 110 operations were performed mostly by punching cards and paper tape with a special device. More direct and convenient 1/0 instruments have been developed since then. External devices directly connected to the CPU are called online devices and directly connected devices are not called offline devices.
Peripherals can be further divided into:
1. Input Device
2. Output Device
3. Computer Memory
1. Input device
Input devices allow the user to input data and instructions on a computer.
2. Output device
Output devices help us to get information from computer. This device is a link between computers and users.
3. Memory
The memory of a computer is similar to that of the human brain. It is used to store data and instructions. The memory of a computer is the storage space in the computer where the data has to be processed and the instructions required for processing are stored.
